Executive Assistant Hybrid / People Operations – Admin Services / Full-time Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) has the fastest, lowest cost path to commercial fusion energy.
CFS is collaborating with MIT to leverage decades of research combined with new groundbreaking high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet technology. HTS magnets will enable compact fusion power plants that can be constructed faster and at lower cost. The mission is to deploy fusion power plants to meet global decarbonization goals as fast as possible. CFS has assembled a team of leaders in tough tech, fusion science, and manufacturing with a track record of rapid execution. CFS is seeking an Executive Assistant to support a C-Level executive & their team, in a growing start-up environment. This person will be the supportive force that empowers our senior leadership, provide project coordination and team support. The ideal person for the job will be a proactive problem solver with exceptional communication skills and a meticulous attention to detail. Must be creative and enjoy working within an entrepreneurial environment. The ideal individual will have flexibility and foresight, while maintaining confidences related to high-level systems and operations, exercise good judgment in a diversity of situations, and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities. The ideal candidate will have most, if not all, of these requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years’ experience providing administrative support in a technical field
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • The ability to assimilate different and diverse demands into a coherent support plan
  • The perspective to accommodate multiple requests for support and prioritize appropriately
  • Positive, professional, and enthusiastic attitude and the ability to receive constructive feedback
  • Skill in administrative office tools, such as MS 365 software, Google Workspace, Confluence, Jira, Zoom, Expensify, ERP systems
  • Ability to work (thrive) in a startup R&D environment
  • Comfortable working autonomously; self-motivated Additional experience and/or qualifications:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Can stoop, climb, type, stand, and sit for extended periods of time
  • Dedication to safety to mitigate hazards that may include strong magnets and noise
  • Willingness to travel occasionally
