Paraform and Funded.club solve the same problem with different models. Paraform is a recruiter marketplace where many independent recruiters can work a role, which gives you breadth. Funded.club puts one dedicated recruiter on each search for a fixed fee agreed upfront, which gives you a single owner and one consistent pitch to the market. The better fit depends on how standard the role is and how much time your team has to review candidates.
This page compares the two models rather than the two companies. For Paraform's current pricing, terms and features, check Paraform's own site, as they can change.
The real difference is who owns the search
In a marketplace model, your role brief goes out to a pool of independent recruiters, and several of them can source for it at the same time. You get parallel reach into different networks, and candidates arrive from more than one direction.
In a dedicated model, one recruiter takes the brief, builds the search and runs it end to end. There is one person to call, one pipeline to review and one set of notes explaining why each candidate was put forward.

Neither model is better in the abstract. Breadth helps when the profile is common and you want many options in front of you quickly. A single owner helps when the profile is unusual, when the pitch needs care, or when nobody on your side has hours each week to read submissions.
Who tells your story to candidates
Every candidate hears about your company first from a recruiter. When one person runs the search, they learn your product, your stage and your reasons for hiring in the kick-off call, then sharpen the pitch each time a candidate pushes back. By the third week, that pitch is often better than your job ad.
When several recruiters work a role, each one tells the story in their own words. That can work well for a familiar role at a company candidates already know. For a first hire in a new function, or a Seed company nobody has heard of yet, it is worth agreeing upfront how the message stays consistent and how you will know which candidates have already been approached.
A worked example: one senior engineer
Take an illustrative search for a senior backend engineer on a $140,000 base salary. The numbers are examples, so swap in your own.
On Funded.club's dedicated model, that salary sits in the band for roles up to $150,000, so the fee is $11,500, agreed before the search starts. Part is paid as an advance at kick-off and the balance when your candidate accepts the offer. You would expect first screened candidates within 7 days and one regular conversation with the same recruiter throughout.
On a marketplace model, ask how the fee is set for a role at that salary, when it falls due and how many recruiters will work the role. Then picture the review side. If five recruiters each submit three candidates in the first fortnight, someone on your team reads fifteen profiles, gives feedback to five people and watches for duplicates. Some teams welcome that volume. Others find it quietly becomes the hiring manager's second job.
Side by side
| Recruiter marketplace (e.g. Paraform) | Dedicated recruiter (Funded.club) | |
|---|---|---|
| How the role is worked | Many independent recruiters can work the same role | One recruiter runs the search end to end |
| Who you deal with | Candidates arrive through several recruiters | One person for sourcing, headhunting, screening and offer support |
| Fees | Check Paraform's site for current pricing | Fixed fee agreed upfront, $4,900 to $21,900 per hire, averaging 6 to 9% of salary |
| What your team manages | Reviewing and giving feedback on submissions from several sources | Regular shortlist reviews with one recruiter |
| Often suits | Common profiles, teams with review capacity, roles where breadth matters most | Unusual or sensitive roles, first hires in a function, lean teams |
A useful test is to write down who, by name, will review candidates each week and how many hours they really have. That one line often decides the model before price even comes up.
How to choose for each role
Most startups do not need a single answer for every hire. Place each open role on the map below, then pick the model role by role.

- Common profile, time to review. Marketplace breadth can surface more options, as long as someone is ready to give fast feedback.
- Unusual profile or first hire in a function. One owner who learns the role in depth tends to make the pitch and the screening more consistent.
- Confidential or replacement hires. Fewer people carrying the brief makes discretion easier to manage.
- Little time on your side. Choose the model where someone else does the first filter, and compare fees and admin from there.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Paraform and Funded.club?
Paraform is a recruiter marketplace where many independent recruiters can work a role. Funded.club assigns one dedicated recruiter to each search and charges a fixed fee per hire agreed upfront, from $4,900 to $21,900.
Can I use a recruiter marketplace and a dedicated recruiter on the same role?
You can, but agree in writing who owns which candidates so nobody is submitted twice, and read each provider's terms first. Funded.club's terms are on its FAQ page.
How much does Funded.club charge for a senior engineer?
For a base salary up to $150,000, the Funded.club fee is $11,500 per hire. Above $150,000 it runs from $15,900 to $21,900, agreed before the search starts.
Which model suits a first hire in a new function?
Many founders prefer one owner for a first hire, because the role is often still being defined and the pitch to candidates needs to evolve. A marketplace can still work if you have a clear profile and time to review submissions.
